Many times we have less than good Mondays hence the phrase the Monday blues. What is it about Mondays that are so terrible? Well today I got to experience what could have been a not so great Monday. Let me tell you when I say it is about your mindset. I woke up in the worst mood and skipped my morning routine which did nothing to set my day up for success. What I did do though is switch my mindset from I’m having a bad day to how am I going to make my day better. Today I will be focusing on shifting your mindset so that we can create better Mondays and better weeks!

Intentions
This week I will focus on my mindset when it comes to what my circumstances are. I will shift negative thoughts into positive ones, and I will practice using affirmations. The outcome of my day requires me to actively work on how I think and view less than perfect situations.

Tip of the Week
This week I challenge you to re-configure your vocabulary. Take out words like try and can’t. When I practiced this and actively focused on making this change I noticed shifts in my day to day life. I was less likely to leave tasks incomplete because instead of trying to do them I was working on them. The small actions are what reap bigger rewards.

Food For Thought
When someone tells you to shift your mindset what do you think of first? If you are like me you think “That’s easier said than done.” The truth is shifting your mindset is hard and requires you to constantly be self aware of your thoughts. When it comes to shifting your mindset I like to think of it as working out. You have to workout the same muscles repetitively over time in order for them to get stronger. The same goes for having more positive thoughts and outlooks on undesirable situations. You have to constantly check yourself in situations that get you upset and talk to yourself like you would a friend who may be experiencing the same situation.

Good Reads
Mindset is something that I am really passionate about. I used to really be stuck thinking how everything was happening to me and why me. Somehow I was able to shift these thoughts and I couldn’t really figure out how to explain this to people. I found an article from phycology today called The Beginner’s Guide to Changing Negative Thoughts that greatly describe how to begin to change negative thoughts. One thing I took away from this article was the phrase BLUE thoughts. At first you think oh blue thoughts like sad, but no BLUE is an acronym. This article gives you tips on how to identify your BLUE thoughts and shift them to be more positive. Below I have given the meaning of the acronym. I highly suggest reading the article to really understand more of how to apply it.

Verse of the Week
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
